You cannot run away from Ann Coulter

"Iran is soliciting cartoons on the Holocaust. So far, only Ted Rall, Garry Trudeau, and the NY Times have made submissions."

-Ann Coulter-

This is the exact same person who has said, “Liberals want mass starvation and human devastation.” Ann also took the time to absolve Dick Nixon from breaking the law with this statement, “Liberals invented "Watergate”. Then Ann took a swipe at middle America with: "Soccer Moms" put all Americans at risk by voting for a frivolous, dying party (democrats).

The woman who wrote the apparently autobiographical number one bestseller “Slander”, is in hot water now for indiscriminate use of the word faggot. Even republican operatives have been tossing out the word “inappropriate” and trying to insert adequate distance between themselves and the bubbly and vivacious Coulter. There is however, one major problem with these attempts at any separation from Coulter:

She is who you are, and where you wanted to be.

Republican Party officials have always wanted her fans to vote for them, and they are well aware of the psychographic her fans compile. This woman has topped the New York Times bestseller list, so her crowd is no small flash in the pan. She speaks to the heart of the Republican Party, and one look at many conservative blogs will provide you with a similar dosage of the same vitriol you get from Ann. Dear God, check out Michelle Malkin, who actually says she would have supported locking up Japanese Americans during World War II. Michelle Malkin has also sold millions of books.

Even George Will has said something to the effect of “So what if sheep are grazing on green grass in Greenland”. What an entirely sympathetic view of global warming. I can only guess that Mr. Will does not have any loved ones living on or nearby the ocean. They can call themselves compassionate conservatives, however there is little evidence of any compassion with these people.

What did the President do in the last election? He invited the entire gaggle of this crowd down to the Whitehouse to do a one-day marathon of on-air interviews, laced with mountains of the stereotypical rancid invective I am speaking of. Why did they do this? They did this because they know these personalities energize their base and get the vote out.

Not at all unlike Al Franken on the left, Ann and her ilk have no room for Democrats at America’s table, and she does not accept that any liberal has ever provided any beneficial service to this country. She would prefer if all "liberals" left the country and moved to Moscow. To be honest, she makes you feel as though she wishes they would all arrive in Russia inside a coffin.

She, like Franken, are part of the new “my way or the highway” ethic that has now completely permeated American politics. I would not be surprised if Ann or Franken do not really believe all of the crap that comes out of their mouths, and that both are just pandering for dollars, but in the end it is not these on-air personalities that matter. No, we should be worried about their fans, because they are the ones who truly believe every word that exits these people's mouths.

Those trying to distance themselves from Ann right now are only tossing their admonitions out because they are afraid of scaring off the moderate vote, and come the next elections, they will be standing in line with their hand out, waiting for Ann’s fans to toss them their vote.

A party is not made by its talking heads, it is made up out of its masses, and Ann speaks to the very coldest of hearts in the conservative choir. If you are conservative, (and there are many decent conservative republicans) and you truly do not like what Ann has said; do not blame her for one second. What you need to do is take a real hard look at her audience. You will not have to work too hard discerning who they are, as they are your brothers and sisters in the Republican Party, and judging from Ann’s book sales, there are millions of them.

It ‘s tough to think of voting for a democrat, even when you face this kind of hostility in your own party. The democrats have a similar version of this type of hateful pandering too. You can either try and fight the uphill battle of taking the control of your party away from these seemingly angry people, or you can give up and become an independent like I did.

I tired of the “absolutes” game these people play, as I know that not all liberals are evil and not all conservatives are heartless. Nothing in this world is all black and white with the exception of the black print sitting on a white page that more often than not, contains the divisive and sometimes clearly bigoted remarks of people like Ann Coulter.

good post, Rev. You called it quite fairly and applied the same to both sides of the political spectrum. One cannot ask for more than that.

Rev,
I'm of a mind that Ann says what she says not because she believes it, but because it sells books...gets her speaking engagements, etc. She an airhead to be sure, but a savant in the ways of making a buck.

And those HANDS! What's up with those incredibly freakin' ginormous hands of hers?

i am inclined to believe you poobers and i visualize a bar where the talking heads from both parties get together every night and laugh their asses off at what they all get away with. only thing is, the fact that there are so many people that truly associate themselves with these pundits offical posistions, that part is not funny in the least bit, just plain scary and sad.

ah what you doin checkin out this biotches hands man? this some new fetish i have not noticed in you before? you know what they say about a woman with big hands....
